On Whole He’s Not an Idiot
Joe Biden said this recently about Guiliani:
Sure there is, but with these guys, he knows so little about foreign policy he confuses terrorists cells and organizations with countries. There was no al-Qaeda in Iraq before this war. Al-Qaeda became a Bush-fulfilling prophecy
I think on whole the very smart things Joe Biden says out number the dumb things he says by about 3-1 to one. However, in aggregate the stupid things Joe Biden says number close to the number of stupid things said by all other Democratic candidates. It’s like in basketball when you have players that always go for the steal on defense and get burned when it doesn’t work. Of course in Basketball people usually keep track of the good things you do more then the bad things. In politics mistakes are harped on forever, while whatever it is that made people think you would be a good politician is rarely focused on.I remember about three years ago when Biden was literally the only person other then Ted Kennedy and Howard Dean willing and able to intelligently tear into the Bush Administration over Iraq and their multitude of foreign policy blunders. That doesn’t mean you should vote for him, but it’s worth remembering.
