Sunday Morning Thoughts

Joe Klein on the Chris Matthews is making a lot of sense on John McCain’s speech.
Main point is that John McCain’s speech was successful in that he really came off as a normal person. Which is something I had been meaning to write. It was the first time in a while that I watched a Republican speak for an extended period of time and didn’t have a strong negative reaction. It reminded of the 2000 John McCain who has long since vanished.
On the flip side Andrea Mitchell seems increasingly willing to repeat every dumb Republican point. No matter how many times the Republicans say Michigan is a swing state it just isn’t true. Read a poll. There hasn’t been poll that had Barack Obama down in Michigan all summer.
