So the experience of watching Nancy Pelosi and Harold Ford at Netroots Nation has really got me thinking about how you can manage evasive speakers. As I said yesterday the thing I really enjoyed about Netroots Nation how smart and knowledgeable the audience was, however what I didn’t mention was how poorly they confronted Harold [...]

Identifying B.S.
To follow up on the last post one the thing I liked a lot about the Netroots Nation conference was the sense that I was among people that were really preceptive and knowledge. A great deal of my life is me watching people spew nonsense while I wonder if I’m only one that notices. At [...]

Calling Harold Ford on His B.S.
Here’s great post by Christian Progressive Liberal at Jack and Jill Politics discussing her experience listening Harold Ford spew his nonsense.
First, the good news – Ford showed up. I didn’t think he would show his face at a conference of progressive bloggers, after he slammed us on the “Today” show last Monday. [...]

In the early afternoon session here at the Netroots Nation conference, I’m listening to Matt Stoller make a strong case that the conference should not have cheered for Nancy Pelosi.
Basically he’s argued that by not booing or otherwise showing our displeasure we’re treating her like royalty. It’s true there are very legitimate grievances against Pelosi. [...]

I’m watching Nancy Pelosi speak currently. I think she’s doing a good job, although the format is clearly designed to help her out by managing the grumpy questions and throwing at a couple of soft ball questions.
One thing I hadn’t heard her say before was that although she voted for the FISA “compromise”, [...]

Markos and Harold Ford
Here’s some more live blogging. Harold Ford is doing the lunch session with Markos right now. Like most everyone here I not a big Harold Ford fan. Thinking about the thing I most dislike about him is something he isn’t completely responsible for; namely the idea that Harold Ford is type of person know what [...]

Today’s First Session
I’m at a session on transparency, and government. It’s actually an I issue I find very interesting.
Highlights
A speaker from NASA that ended her speech by quoting Gandhi.
A website where you can rate your experience with the police
A google map that the DC government produces that shows every pothole the city knows about
NASA second [...]

Blogging Philosophy
Another thing the morning sessions a Netroots Nation made me think about what people think blogs should be. Pretty clearly the philosophy of the state level bloggers I was talking to this morning view blogs as:
1) A place to do some heavy political lifting, such funneling money to progressive candidates.
2) A mixed medium media outlet, [...]

State Level Blogs
The first session I’m attending is the state level bloggers session. Which is a little odd because I’m not actually from a state, and the typical dynamic of trying to get more and better Democrats elected is bit different in Washington DC, where the Democrats win every election. (Although there could definitely be better democrats).
I [...]

I’m at Netroots Nation
I’m currently at the Netroots Nation Conference in Austin TX, Thoughts:
1) Will I be the least read blogger at the conference?
2) The overall content of the sessions. I understand the topics ofcourse, but I find it hard to imagine how you could talk some of these issues for 2 hours at a time. There’s one [...]
